Lake District
Buttermere Dreams
After the sun dipped below the hills, the remaining light reflected down Buttermere lake and the wind whipped the clouds across the sky.

Buttermere Valley
A narrow rocky path leads vaguely to this point along the southern slopes of Buttermere valley. If you can wait till just the right moment, the sun falls below the cloud base and streams down the valley illuminating it in every shade of green. You can see a glimpse of Crummock Water beyond Buttermere.

Derwentwater - Lingholm Island & Catbells
When all the walkers have gone home, the quiet northern shores of Derwentwater in Keswick are the perfect place to capture Lingholm Island with the hills beyond. Set out naturally like a painting, there aren't many more iconic and picturesque scenes in the Lakes.

Buttermere
It has to be one of the most naturally beautiful places in England. Buttermere valley from the south eastern corner is stunning. Dotted trees, rising hills, clear water, woodland, waterfalls, and rivers. Everywhere you look there's a photo or a painting waiting to be drawn out. and after sundown the river turns into a silver ribbon winding down to the lake.

Keswick Landscape
A quintessential Lake District landscape. Picturesque farms and fields, lush woodland, rolling hills and the town of Keswick nestled by Derwentwater. The climb up the lower slopes of Skiddaw is tough, but the views are some of the best around.

Keswick & Derwentwater
The town of Keswick nestled among the hills lies next to Derwentwater, a sprawling picturesque lake with dotted islands and bays. You can see this view easily from the top of Latrigg, a lower peak on the way up to Skiddaw.

Last Light
This was one my favourite scenes to capture. The natural landscape is all there, the tiny village of Troutbeck, near Windermere, is huddled into the hillside, and the sheep are grazing in a lush green meadow. Five minutes of pure golden light backlights the trees and transforms everything.

The Walls
These dry stone walls snake all over the Lake District marking out boundaries, fencing in sheep and showing pathways for walkers. They seem as old as the hills themselves and seem to go on endlessly, long past the setting sun. This one is along the lower slopes of Skiddaw towards Dodd.

Wast Water at Blue Hour (Portrait)
Wast Water rivals anywhere in the Lake District for raw beauty and scale. The peaks around the lake are some of the highest in England and are only beaten by the very highest point, Scafell Pike, which sits just out of the frame to the east. When the people and the sun have long gone the sky and the water turn blue. One of the more peaceful and mysterious places in the Lakes.

Wasdale
At the far end of Wast Water there is a small place called Wasdale Head with an Inn. From there you can begin the long walk up Great Gable to look back down the valley. With sheep grazing, dry stone walls and undulating slopes it's well worth the considerable hike up for one of the best views in the Lakes.

Crummock Water
At the very north end of the lake you sit by the weir and get almost level with the water. Looking down Buttermere valley with just a lone wooden hut on the eastern shore this scene might have remained unchanged for centuries.
